"She's the fancier and I'm the helper," says Jannie Engelbrecht of his wife Tersia, who has seven pigeons in this, her ninth Sun City Million Dollar race.

The couple hail from the Western Cape in South Africa. They switched roles early on in their racing career, when Jannie found that the hobby was taking too much time away from business – and Tersia found that she seriously enjoyed managing a coop.

They race 40 pigeons nearly every weekend. Of their flying athletes in the SCMDPR, Tersia has pinned high hopes on "Breaker", which won the R25 000 SA Challenge Hotspot Averages.
